Adults and children alike from Punnetts Town C.P. School are enjoying their weekly outings to the woods very much. We’ve been spotting signs of spring, identifying winter twigs, collecting kindling wood, hunting for invertebrates, building shelters for different creatures, building bridges over the stream, sawing and whittling greenwood, creating nature-god effigies from natural materials, playing lots of games and drinking hot chocolate. Thank you to all of Year 5 and Year 1 and their brilliant supporting adults. Looking forward to working with Year 3 and 4 next term.
Unfortunately we will NOT be running a session this autumn half-term.
We’ll be back in 2017 if not before, so get in touch to be added to the mailing list to hear about future dates.
Wow! What a fantastic August we’ve had in the woods at Darwell. New faces and old, lots of focus and plenty of fun. Highlights include sneezy dragon stalking games, the hammock chill-out zone, willow craft, cleaving and sawing greenwood, lots of dens and good snacks cooked on the fire- including nut and berry flapjacks wrapped in sweet chestnut leaves and cooked on the embers. Some great teamwork, perseverance and adventurous spirits. See you next time!
Thank you to the Forestry Commission for continuing to support our activities in the woods. If you have taken part in any Ironwood activities this season or previously, please do take a moment to complete this simple online survey (takes 2 mins!):

Wow! today was a whirlwind… literally as it was so blustery! Lots of new games, elder pencils, dens, teasel hedgehogs, migrating swallows, and a group that got stuck in to everything- especially mud sliding!
Today was full to capacity so if you want to book ahead for the summer it is advisable: we are running EVERY THURSDAY FROM 28TH JULY-1ST SEPTEMBER.
Take advantage of our summer discount: book 4 sessions for a child and get them for £100 (saving £20).
We are just running one date in half term, Thursday 2nd June. Be sure to grab your spot! We will be making musical instruments from natural resources, trying some new games, seeing what creatures and changes the new season brings to the woods. Get your wellies out and join in!
Sorry if you’ve missed out this time… but do get in touch if you’d like to book for the summer half-term (31st May and 2nd June).
Lucky you if you made it in time… sorry if you didn’t – you’ll have to be quick next time! Which won’t be til Easter 2016… unless anyone wants to book a special birthday party or school visit, in which case, get in touch!
Coming soon in 2016… adult workshops… and a possible change of location…
In the meantime, yuletide greetings and don’t let the weather stop the outdoor adventuring!
