Punnetts Town children get wild

unnamed-4

Adults and children alike from Punnetts Town C.P. School are enjoying their weekly outings to the woods very much. We’ve been spotting signs of spring, identifying winter twigs, collecting kindling wood, hunting for invertebrates, building shelters for different creatures, building bridges over the stream, sawing and whittling greenwood, creating nature-god effigies from natural materials, playing lots of games and drinking hot chocolate. Thank you to all of Year 5 and Year 1 and their brilliant supporting adults. Looking forward to working with Year 3 and 4 next term.

Glorious Summer Season

Wow! What a fantastic August we’ve had in the woods at Darwell. New faces and old, lots of focus and plenty of fun. Highlights include sneezy dragon stalking games, the hammock chill-out zone, willow craft, cleaving and sawing greenwood, lots of dens and good snacks cooked on the fire- including nut and berry flapjacks wrapped in sweet chestnut leaves and cooked on the embers. Some great teamwork, perseverance and adventurous spirits. See you next time!

Thank you to the Forestry Commission for continuing to support our activities in the woods. If you have taken part in any Ironwood activities this season or previously, please do take a moment to complete this simple online survey (takes 2 mins!):
